The PlantStar Manufacturing Execution System (MES) serves three primary functions within a factory: Testing Changes
Job Scheduling: It manages and organizes job schedules, determining which jobs are assigned to specific machines and the sequence in which they are executed.
Data Collection: It gathers manufacturing data from machines on the shop floor, providing valuable insights into operations.
Reporting Tools: It offers reporting capabilities that enable management to effectively analyze and utilize the collected data.
The PlantStar System comprises three essential components:
Data Collection Modules (DCMs): These modules are responsible for gathering raw data from manufacturing machines on the plant floor.
Application Processing Unit (APU): This unit collects and processes the raw data from the DCMs and provides HTML-based interfaces for user interaction with the PlantStar system.
Clients: These are computers or devices on the network that interact with the web pages served by the APU, allowing users to access the system through any standard web browser.
This manual explains the software PlantStar uses on DCM computers.
